Ben Backes brings a rare combination of clinical expertise and operational leadership to his role as Assistant Executive Director at Frankenberger Associates. With a deep passion for creating meaningful, measurable change in the lives of learners and their families, Ben oversees company operations, business development, and program innovation. He plays a central role in scaling services, streamlining internal systems, and building strong referral networks to ensure that every client receives personalized support rooted in care and excellence.
Ben’s work bridges strategy and heart—empowering coaches, cultivating culture, and leading with purpose.
In addition to his role at FA, Ben runs a private psychotherapy practice, helping clients navigate life’s challenges and pursue personal growth. He is also the co-founder and President of the Board of Directors for Winning Ways, Inc., a nonprofit dedicated to supporting individuals reentering society after incarceration. Ben also co-hosts The Falling Up Podcast, a platform for amplifying powerful stories of resilience and transformation.
A sought-after speaker, Ben regularly presents at schools and organizations on topics including addiction, mental health, and recovery. His signature talks—“21st Century Addiction,” “An Honest Conversation,” and “My Story”—blend evidence-based insight with lived experience to spark honest dialogue and connection.
Outside of work, Ben enjoys skiing, traveling the country with his wife to see the Dave Matthews Band, and spending time with their beloved dog, LeRoi.
Ben holds an Associate’s Degree and a Certificate in Drug and Alcohol Recovery Counseling (DARC) from Gateway Community College, a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from Southern Connecticut State University, and a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Fordham University.
