Time Blindness

Course Overview

Many children struggle with time not because they’re careless—but because they don’t naturally feel or track the passage of time.

“Time Blindness” is designed to help parents teach their child how to better understand time, plan ahead, and manage tasks more effectively. Instead of rushing at the last minute, underestimating how long things take, or constantly needing reminders, your child will begin to develop a clearer sense of time and how to use it.

This course breaks down complex time management skills into simple, practical strategies you can use in everyday situations—at home, in school, and in the community—so your child can become more independent, organized, and prepared.

What Your Child Will Learn

By the end of this course, you will be able to help your child:

1. Develop a Better Sense of Time
Help your child begin to understand and feel how long tasks take and how time passes throughout the day.

2. Estimate and Plan More Effectively
Teach your child how to predict how long tasks will take and plan accordingly.

3. Use Tools to Stay on Track
Introduce strategies and tools (timers, visual supports, routines) to help your child manage time more independently.

4. Improve Follow-Through and Task Completion
Support your child in starting tasks on time, staying engaged, and completing responsibilities without last-minute stress.

I loved this course and wish everyone at Middlebridge could take it. For folks entering into the profession or looking to have an update on learning challenges the videos and supplementary readings were on point. I loved the processing speed and working memory videos as so often people do not realize how this impacts the learner. The EF video was excellent and tangible as was the strategies for teachers. It is very rare when you have PD with actual strategies offered. I loved the evaluation section, and the questions to be posed by admissions professionals and teachers in the classroom...

I am thrilled to share my experience after receiving my certificate from Frankenberger Associates in Understanding Diverse Learning Profiles. This course has truly transformed my approach to working with prospective and current families, as well as lower and middle school faculty, learning support staff, and administration. The valuable tools and insights I gained have deepened my understanding of diverse learning profiles, allowing me to speak confidently and knowledgeably about my candidates. This has fostered trust and collaboration within our community, making a significant impact on our partnerships. I wholeheartedly recommend this course to admission professionals and anyone involved in supporting students....

This course was exactly what I needed to feel more confident in my role as Director of Academic Support. The modules were comprehensive and practical with supporting materials to reinforce the topics. The fact that I can continue to access the videos and readings upon completing the course has been a fantastic resource for me. All educators would benefit from this course.

My student, while a relatively new client of Frankenberger Associates, is already finding work with his coach to be helpful and effective.

Understanding Diverse Learning Profiles is a wonderful study of student learning profiles, misconceptions, types of assessments to determine how students learn, reading psychoeducational testing reports, and classroom supports. It is a course that brings together the needs and perspectives of the admission team, classroom educators, and learning support professionals to create a stronger student success model. As a veteran admission professional, it provided me with insight to better understand the needs of our applicants and students. I am much more confident in my ability to read and understand testing reports and how a learning profile may present in the classroom....

This 6-module online course is the best training I have ever participated in. As an IEC who provides high school and college consulting for students who have specific learning, cognitive and/or developmental challenges, the course deepened my understanding of learning challenges, and my ability to read and interpret evaluations. I developed new questioning techniques to discern my students’ learning strengths, average abilities, and challenges, and I watched the videos and read the supplemental articles on my own timeline, there was no pressure. Quite simply, this course was a game changer for me, and I think it will be the same...

I have had the pleasure of learning from Caryl Frankenberger for almost fifteen years, witnessing firsthand her expertise and unwavering commitment to neurodiverse learners. Caryl has the ability to make complex concepts about learning and cognitive development accessible—a skill I first observed in 2010 during one of her presentations, where she captivated a packed auditorium of educators with ease. Her work has left a lasting impact on me and countless others, empowering students, families, and professionals with the tools and understanding they need to thrive in their strengths.

Aria Carter, Director of Admissions, Greenwood School

I'm so glad I took the Understanding Diverse Learning Profiles course. It introduced some ideas that were new to me, and also brought clarity and cohesion to ideas that I had picked up along the way, but didn’t have a context for. I gained greater fluency in the concepts and terminology that my colleagues in learning support use routinely, so I’m now better prepared to engage in meaningful conversation with them about how our school supports students. The readings and videos were varied and thought-provoking, and the regular meetings with the cohort and the instructors were helpful, motivating, and fun! The...
