Executive Function Coaching

What is an Executive Functioning Coach?

An Executive Function Coach helps individuals strengthen the essential cognitive skills that drive academic success, workplace performance, and daily life management. These include task initiation, planning, organization, time management, and impulse/emotional control. These skills are often underdeveloped in traditional education settings.

Executive function challenges affect more than just school performance. They impact how we plan, prioritize, stay organized, and manage tasks and emotions in everyday life. These difficulties often show up as procrastination, inconsistent routines, or difficulty completing tasks, even when someone is motivated and capable.

Unlocking Success with Targeted Executive Function Support

At Frankenberger Associates, our coaches don’t follow a one-size-fits-all model. We provide individualized executive function coaching tailored to the client’s specific needs, whether that’s a student struggling to complete assignments, a teen navigating independence, or an adult balancing work, home, and personal goals.

We use our MAPS Framework™ to guide this work. MAPS stands for:

  • Mindset – Building motivation, confidence, and resilience.
  • Awareness – Recognizing strengths, challenges, and habits that shape learning.
  • Planning – Learning to prioritize, organize, and manage time effectively.
  • Strategies – Applying real-world tools for follow-through, flexibility, and success.

Every coaching plan is highly individualized. We start with a comprehensive intake process, learning about each client’s strengths, challenges, and goals. From there, we integrate their real curriculum into coaching sessions so strategies are applied immediately to homework, projects, and responsibilities — making learning both practical and meaningful. Our approach is especially effective for individuals with ADHD, learning differences, high-functioning autism, anxiety, or anyone who feels overwhelmed by the demands of everyday life.

Who Benefits?

Wherever you are starting, MAPS provides a clear path forward. It helps you build awareness, strengthen your mindset, create plans you can follow, and apply strategies that lead to lasting success.

An Inside Look at a Coaching Session

Every executive function coaching session at Frankenberger Associates is designed to be practical, personalized, and immediately impactful. From week to week, sessions adapt to fit the client’s real needs, whether it’s an academic challenge, a new transition, or building daily routines.

Sessions are guided by our MAPS Framework™. Coaches help clients strengthen their mindset, increase awareness, create and adjust plans, and practice strategies that can be used right away.

Imagine the Following Scenario

A student has three upcoming tests, a late English assignment, and a group project due next week. During the session, their coach might:

Check-In & Review

Open the session by reviewing upcoming deadlines and any roadblocks from the previous week.

Set Priorities and Break It Down

Prioritize tasks and break larger assignments into manageable steps.

Create a Weekly Game Plan

Build a custom plan for the week ahead, mapping out when and how to study, finish assignments, and balance extracurriculars.

Targeted Academic Support

Provide academic support—helping the student outline and write their late English assignment, review study materials and teach test taking strategies for upcoming tests, or organize their group project.

Build Executive Function Skills

Teach strategies for task initiation, staying focused, and managing stress.

Refine Daily Routines

Check in on routines —from morning organization to nighttime wind-down—and adjust as needed.

Wrap-Up & Accountability Boost

End the session with a recap, confirming goals and offering encouragement and accountability.

By working on what’s happening right now in the student’s life, coaching becomes immediately rewarding—and the skills learned extend far beyond schoolwork.

Trusted by Genius People

Frankenberger Associates has had the privilege of helping thousands of families, schools, and students transform their learning experience.

One other amazing thing about this program is the close interaction I have with Annie. This way I can share my ongoing observations, so that my son’s sessions are truly individualized and based on his input, and also on observation. She has been for me a great source of education on my son’s condition and much needed support. Somehow, I feel I am doing a better mom job, certainly with less anxiety. She showed so much empathy, flexibility, made everything possible to meet our needs. I feel so grateful to have this wonderful support in our life. And I thank...

Parent

The organized and thoughtful approach to Tailored Academic Tutoring through Executive Function Coaching at Frankenberger Associates has truly transformed my son’s academic performance. As a parent, I appreciate how they have built trust with me through open communication and with my son who feels supported and confident under their guidance.

What an absolute relief!! Since my son has worked with Katherine, he has grown in leaps and bounds. Katherine has also been a major support for me as well! He and Katherine have a really good rapport. He proclaimed 'She’s the one , mom, the one who knows how to help me.' That says it all!

Parent

It was really good. Katherine helped me out a lot with my work, study habits, organization, decoding and more. I’m going to try on my own for a little bit to see how far I can go on my own now that I’ve met with her many times and developed my skills more.

Thank you so much for setting my husband up with such a fantastic coach! I have observed his organization, task initiation, and vulnerability increase exponentially. The classes have been so helpful, and he told me tonight that he will be signing up for more sessions. He is starting a new job and wants to make sure he does not fall into the same habits that have hindered his success before.

Spouse

All seems to be progressing well, small changes leading to better overall functioning, less anxiety and more productivity are the goals being addressed. Looking forward to continued improvement.

My experience with my coach and executive function coaching as a whole has been life changing. Coaching has altered various facets of my daily life, from my morning routine to strategies aiding productivity at school, and a much needed introduction to self-care practices like yoga and meditation. Further, my coach has opened my eyes to the world where negativity does not rule my life. I am now able to recognize my thoughts and actions and reframe them into a more positive outlook. With the guidance of my coach, I have been actively combatting my dependency on extra stimuli that my...

Thank you for this great update! We see a huge difference in our daughter’s confidence in approaching written assignments this year. We also see her eagerly asking for help from teachers or the math lab, something she was previously reluctant to do. Her class load and overall schedule are a lot of work but she seems confident that she has the strategies; some days she’s not sure she has enough hours. Thanks, Jennifer

With Katherine’s help and guidance, I have come leaps and bounds academically. Before I started meeting with Katherine, I never took notes in class, wrote my assignments in a planner, or studied for tests and quizzes properly. Over the course of two years, I have sharpened these three important skills and my improvement in grades is a testament to this. I owe all these academic improvements to Katherine’s skill as an executive functions coach.

My child received a 5 on her AP Gov’t exam! She is beyond excited and so am I. It’s been a journey and you were instrumental in getting her through that class. Your services have been invaluable!
